Grocery shoppers in downtown Port Coquitlam ring in $3K for SHARE

A Port Coquitlam campaign held in the first two weeks of December to raise cash for SHARE Family and Community Services brought in more than $3,000 for the Tri-City nonprofit.
A partnership between the grocery stores Freshmart and City Avenue Market, as well as the Downtown Port Coquitlam Business Improvement Association (BIA), the Care for Share program invited customers at the till to donate money to support SHARE’s social services programs.
This included:
- food banks
- counselling
- housing support
- educational outreach
In turn, the BIA matched the funds collected by Freshmart and City Avenue Market with gift cards.
"We are thrilled with the success of the Care for Share program and the generosity shown by our business members and their customers," said Jennifer McKinnon, BIA executive director, in a news release.
"It is heartwarming to see the community come together to support such a worthy cause. We are proud to be able to make a difference in the lives of those who need it most."
