About 10 per cent of Tri-City’s population — or 30,000 people — gets food, education and health supports from SHARE Family and Community Services each year.

But some residents don’t know the social services agency exists.

Now, SHARE is readying for its signature event of the year to build awareness and community around the people who use the programs and the donors who support them.

On Saturday, March 7, the Show Theatre at the Great Canadian Casino Vancouver in Coquitlam will transform for the 21st IMAGINE gala, a business-style networking event with the theme “Every Step of the Way” — a nod to the Tri-City residents whose lives have transitioned and are in need of help, as well as the funders who offer a financial lift to those at risk.

“With IMAGINE, we’re inviting our community to come together for a memorable evening that directly supports our neighbours,” said SHARE CEO Claire MacLean in a news release. “Funds raised at IMAGINE help us provide housing supports, food security, mental health and substance use services, early years programs, newcomer supports, senior programming and more.”

MacLean added, “Your generosity helps us walk with people every step of the way, so everyone has the chance to reach their full potential.”

Emceed by Cathy Cena and Angela Calla, and sponsored by Wesbild, IMAGINE will feature a grazing menu for guests, a friendly culinary competition between local chefs, live entertainment and, new for this year, a street market with works from local artisans, as well as organization outreach. A 50/50 raffle is now live while the silent auction starts online on Friday, Feb. 20.

The IMAGINE gala is on Saturday, March 7 from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Show Theatre (2080 United Blvd., Coquitlam). Tickets at $195 can be purchased at sharesociety.ca/imagine.
