Firefighters BBQ in Support of SHARE Food Bank
Friday, July 24 | 4–7 p.m.
Picnic Pavilion at Blue Mountain Park
Off King Albert Avenue and Porter Street, next to Tennis Courts
You’re invited to the Firefighters’ BBQ!
Your Friday night dinner plans are confirmed: Join the Coquitlam Firefighters Charitable Society for a community BBQ in support of SHARE Family & Community Services’ Remember the Food Bank campaign, helping ensure fresh, nourishing food for local families this summer.
Guests can enjoy BBQ classics by donation, with suggested amounts of $7 for a hot dog, chips and a drink, and $10 for a burger, chips and a drink, with payment options including card and cash at the SHARE tent. To make an even bigger impact, attendees will also have the option to ‘round up for the Food Bank,’ adding a little extra at the till to help SHARE provide fresh, nourishing food to children, families, and seniors across the Tri-Cities.
Why it matters
Summer is historically the slowest period of the year for food bank donations, yet local demand remains at an all-time high. This event offers a high-visual, high-energy opportunity to capture community solidarity while highlighting the critical resource deficit facing vulnerable families in the Tri-Cities region.
Each month, more than 5,000 neighbours rely on the SHARE Food Bank, and nearly one in three visitors is a child or youth. Demand has doubled since 2022, and the Remember the Food Bank campaign aims to raise $150,000 this summer to provide fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products, eggs, and other essential foods to children, families, and seniors across the Tri-Cities.
