“A Sunny Day in My Neighbourhood”
Silk Gallery and Local Artist Reza Doust present “A Sunny Day in My Neighbourhood” Exhibit and Live Art Fundraiser for SHARE
Port Moody’s Silk Gallery is currently featuring the art work of Reza Doust, a world renowned local artist. His latest collection, titled “A Sunny Day in My Neighbourhood” gathers its inspiration from many familiar Tri-Cities neighbourhoods.
Reza Doust was born in Esfahan, the historical capital of Iran. He was trained in the traditional method and techniques of Persian art (1974). Doust’s first solo exhibition, at the age of 14, was at the Iranian & American Cultural Society . Doust is known for his Avant-garde style, his painting exhibitions, and large installations in Kuwait and the Persian Gulf region, as well as throughout Europe. His art shows internationally while he lives and works in Coquitlam.
“Wherever I have lived, I have re-created my homeland in my studio. The collection of photographs and news clippings, full of love and memory, surround me, nurture me and remind me from where I have come – “painting my life story.” says Doust.
Doust will be adding to his new collection this Saturday, Feb. 11, when he will be at Silk Gallery located at 2419 Clarke St., Port Moody, creating this new piece live, on site. Join the artist from 3-5 pm and watch this original piece of art be created on canvas before your very eyes.
Sylvia Ceacero, SHARE CEO stated “Jason Pollock once said “a very good painter paints what he is” and therefore, I understand him to paint what we are. Through his exhibit “A Sunny Day in My Neighbourhood”, famous local artist, Reza Doust, paints the Tri-City neighbourhoods and by extension, each of us in the community. SHARE is very grateful for the beautiful piece that Mr. Doust will paint for us on Saturday Feb. 11 at Silk Gallery. This unique piece will then be auctioned with the proceeds benefiting SHARE programs and services and our community. Join us to witness this artist in action and be inspired.”
