Therapy Services from Private Therapists

Families may choose to find other therapy services through private therapists. This is an individual family decision and we respect parent’s choosing to explore this option. The following information is intended to assist you in you search for a private therapist.

Extended health plans, if you have one, may include coverage to hire a Speech-Language Pathologist privately. You can contact the BC Association of Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologist to obtain a list of SLPs in private practice at 604-420-2222 or visit their web site at www.bcaslpa.bc.caObtaining services through a private SLP will not affect your child’s eligibility for services at SHARE.

You may wish to consider purchasing private Occupational Therapy services if you want more immediate service. You can locate a private OT by contacting the BC Society of Occupational Therapists at 604-736-5645, or by visiting their website at www.bcsot.org Obtaining services from a private OT will not affect your child’s eligibility for SHARE Early Intervention Therapy Services.

You may wish to consider purchasing private Physical Therapy services if you want more immediate service. You can locate a private PT by contacting the Physiotherapy Association BC at 604-736-5130, or by visiting their website at www.bcphysio.org If you are receiving services from a private PT you child’s name will be held on our waiting list and we will call you when an opening becomes available. Due to the College of Physical Therapy - Standards of Practice, we do not recommend receiving services from two PTs at the same time.
